Gay weddings now legal in Scotland!

Though none of the couples mentioned seem to be named Brighid and Darlughdagh, or CuChulainn and Ferdia, this is pleasing news :-)

Subject:Hurricane Wilma
Time:12:15 pm
Current Mood:anxiousanxious
I just found out that Wilma is now a Category 5 Hurricane with the potential of becoming even stronger. There's s good chance that it will hit America, and considering the damage Katrina and Rita did to our country already, and to several other countries as well, I think that we need to start focusing all of our energy into weakening or even halting the hurricane. While magick is not instantaneous, if it limited only by our belief in its power. We can change things. We can save countless thousands or even millions of people by sending our energy out and halting Wilma. At 10:00 EST, I will be focusing energy to weaken or stop the hurricane. I ask that you join in prayer, or light candles, or visualize, or do whatever it takes to send energy out halt the storm. For fifteen minutes at 10:00 EST, those who desire to do so, should focus their power as one. Only together can we change things. In WW2, a group of witches halted Hitler's armies from entering their country. We can do anything, as long as we have the will to do it. Join with me. Help to change the world.

Brightest Blessings,

I read in a blog by SilverRavenWolf speaking about how she incorporated quantum physics in her magical work. Does anyone here have any knowledge about how quantum physics can be applied to magickal theory and practice ?

P.S.- Does anyone know about Emato's Water Energy Technique?

Subject:Samhain Feast: CASA Fundraiser
Time:06:16 pm
My apologies for the late notice. Between travel and personal stuff, I've not had time to get our notice ready.

This year, CASA will be sponsoring my semi-annual Samhain Feast. This event is usually private and invitation only, but this year I'm putting it on as a fundraisier for CASA. I would like to invite the community to celebrate with me and my friends in this season of the New Year, for purification, communion with the ancestors, and a look into the year ahead.

The Samhain Feast features work with the ancestors and with Celtic deities of the dead and of the Otherworld. We will provide the feast and divination for the ceremony. Please bring images or mementos of those who have gone before to place on the altar. Erynn will provide free ogam divinations for those who wish it.

When: Tuesday, November 1st from 7:00 to 9:30 PM
Where: Ballard Odd Fellows Lodge on Market Street in Ballard
Cost: $50 donation to CASA

PLEASE RSVP BY TUESDAY OCTOBER 25TH so that we know how much food to prepare.

Our tentative menu for the event:
appetizers (veggies, fruit, olives, cheese, crackers)
rose hip soup
Irish soda bread
baked mixed winter veggies with olive oil and rosemary
pork roast with apples and garlic
polenta with mushrooms and gruyere
baked pears in ginger sauce
chocolate raspberry mousse
cranberry juice
mulled cider

This from my friend Corinne:

On October 15, 2005, my short film “MARC My Words” will premiere at the Seattle Lesbian and Gay Film Festival - at the Cinerama (2100 4th Ave, Seattle) at 12:00 pm, as part of the “Local Shorts” program. The 11-minute short documentary profiles the activities and attitudes of the group MARC – the Multifaith Alliance of Reconciling Communities, an association of multifaith GLBT clergy, as well as the growth of the Religious Coalition for Equality, an issues-based coalition of clergy of all stripes and sexualities working for GLBT rights.

Ed Shields, gay ex-priest and one-time president of Dignity Seattle, and Erynn Laurie, bisexual druid priestess and respected pagan author and scholar, discuss the issues GLBT people face when they express their spiritual needs as well as the challenges that all people - gay, straight, bi or trans – face when working across cultural and religious lines. The film contains unique footage of the Marriage Equality Rally in Olympia on February 14, 2005, when hundreds of clergy and supporters (including the Seattle Men’s and Women’s Choruses) gathered on the steps of the Capitol in support of love and marriage for all. Since the press virtually ignored the rally, this is a rare opportunity for those who were not there to witness the full scope of the event, and for the rest of us to recall the beauty of the experience.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for Local Shorts through Three Dollar Bill Cinema (http://www.seattlequeerfilm.com)
I invite anyone and everyone to come and support the work of local queer filmmakers.

While you’re at it, don’t hesitate to check out the rest of the festival. It always has something for everyone.

Okay. Forewarned: I suck at these things. That said...

My name is Joseph, and I just hunted up this group from a listing in glbt_pagan.

When I was 18, I joined an Irish witchcraft coven in Texas that made no bones about its origins - the initiator of my high priestess had taken her Gardnerian training, strained out those things that she didn't feel fit with her idea of what witchcraft was, dolloped in a graceful helping of Things Irish, spiced to taste, and ran with it.

As a result, I've long had a predilection for the Green Isle, which eventually expanded to include quite a bit of interest in the pre-Roman tribes of the Isles and Gaul. I've never considered myself a reconstructionist or anything of the like, and in fact, my own spiritual pursuits have actually taken me back towards Brit-Trad witchcraft. I'm an Alexandrian initiate currently.

Nonetheless, my heart is still here. Its curious - I had a hard time justifying joining this community to myself. I'm not involved in the CR movement, nor studies of the culture. I don't actually identify myself as a "Celt" (modern-day or otherwise), though I will happily claim Scots and Irish blood. I'm afraid that I am far more "Irish" in my tastes than I am "Celtic" - I love nothing more than a meal in a pub, some fiddle music and a hot redheaded lad on my arm.

Still, here I am.

I've been slogging through Wikipedia's Celtic Polytheism entries and found some real bogus stuff:

"According to classical authors, the Roman Iron Age people of northern Europe offered human sacrifices to celebrate military victories, and to recover from illness, and executed people as punishment for crimes or perceived social imperfections such as homosexuality."

This is the nasty old chestnut constructed/promoted by the Nazi historians with their ridiculous mistranslations of Tacitus. (See Timothy Taylors' The Prehistory of Sex")
And it just keeps getting passed along.

apparently you can edit Wikipedia--anyone know how?
